Okay, for someone to stop blogging for over a year is pretty pathetic so I won't make any excuses. Luckily, I kept the website active and appreciate people that were still viewing the site even after I left. I have a somewhat valid excuse in that my wife and I had a baby this past year, Dana Mollie Treitel, born August 23, 2008 and the writers strike definitely knocked the wind out of me. In any event, I have thought about blogging for a while but was using my free time playing Wii. Although Mario has been advancing, I felt empty inside. After a breakfast with uber-blogger Ester Kustanowitz, I decided to actually blog a little bit.
Well you have to start somewhere.
In any event, I have grandiose plans to actually create a new episode/short/television show. More information will be coming sometime. I will use this page as a way to write about issues that are on my mind, and get the wheels turning again.
A few random thoughts. I had my fortune read over the holidays and the teller stated that I should actualize my dreams -- hence -- and I shall better explain in another post the reason why I want to create something. I spent many days/months/years writing television specs that will never see the light of day. Everything that I create at this point will be to be seen or to be actualized. [If anyone wants to read a hysterical Happy Days spec, written with Shoe Schuster, where the concept is that what if Happy Days continued form the 50's to the 80's email me and I'll pdf, right now it's sitting in cyberspace anyway.]
I definitely don't have time to read other people's blogs nor check out other people's Facebook pages. You know, I kind of wish there was Facebook when I had done Situation Comedy, it probably, might have helped. Things really change in a few years. One thing that has changed was that I was one of the first to have a Blackberry, now it's so commonplace, not that I feel I needed to be ahead of the curve, it's just a fact of life that what was once "cool" is commonplace. The blackberry is about as sexy as a typewriter.
Okay even if I don't blog or post as often as I used to, it will still be on average better than once a year.
Look, life is about time. Right now every minute is important. It may be important to you to not read what I wrote but it is worth my time, to me at least, to write this. To get the creative juices flying again.
This is the beginning of Chapter Two of MarkTreitel.com.
Thanks for scanning.
